“…improving English, and you get more confident. Better than in English classes.” “Someone is listening to me”

‘I can be myself, I can talk about my problems, it is confidential and I can trust’

‘It is a liberating experience to be with someone who wants to be there, not someone whose job it is, someone who listens and looks to solve problems’

Host a Meal

Host a Meal for Refugee Resource

In October, Refugee Resource will be celebrating 20 years of welcoming, supporting and empowering hundreds of refugees in Oxfordshire. What better way of celebrating our anniversary than cooking and sharing delicious food!

Host a meal with a difference. Get together with friends, family or colleagues, share a meal and help raise funds for Refugee Resource by asking your guests for a donation in return.

It can be a big event or a quiet gathering, a dinner, lunch or even afternoon tea.  Whatever you are planning, Refugee Resource is here to help you step up to the plate and make your event a great success!

Contact us here or email communications@refugeeresource.org for more information and to register your interest. If you decide to go ahead the process is simple:

Step 1

Decide when you want to host your meal and sign up using the links we will send you when you register your interest.

We will then send you a support pack which includes downloadable invitations, information about our work and details about how your donations will make a difference.

You’ll also receive a free copy of our very own recipe book - ‘Come to our Table’. Filled with mouth-watering dishes from across the globe, hand-picked by members of our Women’s Service.

Menu Idea

Here’s an example of a three course meal, using recipes from our recipe book ‘Come to our Table’ to inspire you

Starter: Fattoush Salad, a fresh and healthy Syrian salad

Main: Tesbhi Derho, an Eritrean and Ethiopian revised version of the classical chicken curry

Dessert: Sheer Payra Fudge, a delicious Afghan dessert made with pistachio nuts and walnuts

Step 2

Treat yourself and your guests to a tasty meal and an enjoyable time together. Ask your guests to make a donation - either a set amount, what they would pay for a meal at a restaurant or whatever they feel they want to give.

Step 3

Total up the donations and transfer the funds to Refugee Resource using one of the payment methods below:

Finally why not share photos on facebook to encourage others to host a meal for Refugee Resource too.

You can send us your fundraising donation in the following ways:
