BBC News Coverage for Refugee Week

BBC Journalist Katherine Del Costa recently interviewed two of our clients, Bella and Malika for our Refugee Week 2025 campaign. Their journeys reflect both the immense challenges and the hope found through Refugee Resource.

Bella, a refugee from Pakistan, spoke of the trust and stability she found through our one-to-one counselling after arriving alone in the UK, while Malika, who fled Afghanistan, shared how our women’s group became a second family to her as she rebuilt her life. Alongside these moving personal stories, our CEO, Jacqueline Adusei, highlighted the vital role of our nine counsellors, whose work is uniquely tailored to avoid re-traumatisation and support each client’s path to recovery. Demand for our services has grown by 40% in the past three years, but funding has declined. That’s why, during Refugee Week, we launched a campaign to reduce our counselling waiting list and raise £10,00, ensuring more people like Bella and Malika can access the support they need to heal, thrive, and contribute to their communities.
