Lubna’s Story
“Now I have relationships with other women, I have some friends and I know how to get from my home to the group so I travel by myself every Monday. ”
Asylum Welcome suggested that I come to Refugee Resource’s Women’s Group. I was very scared about coming at first.
When I saw Hala (Community Group Leader) and the women in the group chatting and speaking together I felt better. I didn’t know the way from my house to the community centre, so someone used to go with me at first.
Since then I’ve been on trips with the women’s group. Now I have relationships with other women, I have some friends and I know how to get from my home to the group so I travel by myself every Monday.
When I think about what I want in the future, I don’t think about myself. I think about my children. I want them to get a good education and to be good at school. I want my husband to get well. I want to be accepted in this society and to be able to go out by myself.
